Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach, Inc. (APO) partners with the ministry of Young Life Brazos Valley to create a program we call “The Momma Club.” This is a faith-based, supportive, nonjudgmental environment where teen moms can come together for support and encouragement. In this program, the teaching, activities, and friendships are all focused on the very distinct needs of teenagers.

Teen moms come with their children to “Momma Club” on Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. A hot meal is provided each week by various church and civic groups in our community. They have lots of fun with skits, games, door prizes, and crafts and hear a talk relating to their stage of life. At the end of Club, they get to go to the "Momma Closet" and stock up on diapers and baby items!

Children of teen parents face a 70-80% higher risk of suffering abuse or neglect. The goal of the Momma Club is to help teen moms become more self-sufficient, confident, mature, giving, and self-aware young women. The stand a better chance of becoming productive community members and attentive as parents. The program is led by staff of APO and Aggie Young Life leaders (college students.) Mentor Moms share their love and experience with the girls one on one outside of the group setting to provide consistent friendship, encouragement, and mentoring relationships.

The Aggie Young Life leaders are full of enthusiasm and creativity as they develop relationships with the teen moms and share the truth about Jesus Christ.

Additionally, other Aggie volunteers not necessarily associated with Young Life help with transportation to get the teen moms to the Momma Club and they staff the nursery so the babies can be cared for while the teens listen to the evening's teaching.
