I grew up in New Braunfels, Texas where I enjoyed tubing down the Guadalupe River and lifeguarding at Schlitterbahn. After graduating from New Braunfels High School in 1994, I moved to College Station to attend Texas A&M University. I met the love of my life, Brent, the Fall of my freshman year and we were married in May of 1997. I later graduated from A&M in 1998, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Elementary Education).
After graduating, I accepted a teaching position with Rock Prairie Elementary in College Station, where I taught second grade for three years. At the beginning of my last year of teaching in College Station, my husband and I welcomed our firstborn, Molly, into our family. After suffering from a previous miscarriage, we felt truly blessed to have this bundle of joy on loan to us from the Lord.
My husband was then transferred to the San Antonio area with Lowe's and we moved to New Braunfels to be close to family. I then accepted a teaching position at Rose Garden Elementary in Universal City, where I taught first grade for two years. Our family loved being so close to grandparents and cousins. We spent a lot of time on the weekends gathering together to play, cookout and enjoy each other.
After suffering two more miscarriages, Brent and I sought medical attention to see what we could do to help with sustaining a pregnancy. A week before I was supposed to go in for a medical procedure and more testing, we discovered I was pregnant with our second daughter. It was a rough and scary pregnancy for the first trimester and we prayed often. But God is good! He sustained my pregnancy and gave us our Addie Bear. A month before our daughter's birth, my husband was transferred to the Austin area. We then moved to Leander, Texas where I stayed home with my two girls and lived only two miles from my best friend.
My best friend was working for an adoption agency at the time and she created an interest and a passion inside me to learn more about the adoption process and adoptive families. In the back of my mind, I knew that one day this would be something I would want to be involved in.
After living in Leander for three years, my husband was then transferred back to College Station, where I became a preschool teacher at Kingdom Kids on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I love the opportunity to share the Lord with the little children in my classroom. They have taught me so much about hiding the word of God in my heart and how Jesus cares for everyone, the least and the lonely, the widow and the orphans. It is an amazing process to be involved with a child when they truly understand what Jesus has done for them by dying on the cross and being a part of them receiving Jesus as their personal Savior.
God continued to bless our family with the birth of our precious third born, Ellie. Ellie Belle is full of spunk and keeps us on our toes. Our girls give us so much laughter, love and a daily glimpse into how much the Lord loves each and every one of us.
You might wonder how I ended up in the adoption field after having three children of my own. My best friend contacted me and told me about an opportunity to write Home Studies for families wanting to adopt in the Brazos Valley area and surrounding cities. God knew my heart and my desires to help adoptive families and laid this opportunity before me. I accepted the challenge of learning a new skill set and have not looked back. Being a part of the adoption process for so many families has brought me true joy and understanding of the adoption I have been a part of with Jesus as my heavenly father.
I then became the Kinship Adoption Coordinator for the agency I was working with and helped many children stay with family they already knew. After a few years, the agency I worked for had some financial issues. But God pressed it upon my heart to continue pursuing being part of the adoption community. I then approached Kim with APO and she hired me as a contract worker to help Don with the Home Study process. The rest is God's glorious provision for my family and my passion to continue helping families through the adoption journey.
I look forward to the opportunity of meeting the loving families we have here at APO and I thank God often for the chanc
e to be part of something so much bigger than myself. It is a privilege and honor to help families and children at the same time while sharing the love our Lord has for all of us. May God bless you and your family.
