My Adoption Story: As A Birthmother
By Michaela
I found out very late in the game that I was pregnant.
I was planning to graduate cosmetology school soon, I couldn’t believe this happened to me. But it did. I was so scared. Scared for my child’s health due to finding out so late, scared of what people would think, scared of doing it all alone. But I didn’t end up doing it alone. I thank the Lord every day for all my family and friends that stuck by my side. I thank Him for connecting me with APO and for how they walked me and my family through open adoptionstep by step. I thank Him for giving me a big, healthy baby boy, and for Lauren, his adoptive mom. She is such a beautiful, caring and intelligent woman…I hope I grow up to be half the woman she is one day. She and my mom stood by me through everything. I couldn’t have chosen two better people, Lauren and Ryan, to raise my baby. And I will cherish these moments and more the rest of my life.
My journey to open adoption has been amazing, scary, beautiful, and it has changed me for the better. My baby will be raised in a loving and wonderful home with a mom and a dad, and I will get to be part of his life — while at the same time growing into my own.
