Wow! What an amazing journey God has brought me through to find myself working with and for Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach. I am grateful to Him for bringing me here and allowing me to touch so many lives as we support those that are experiencing unplanned pregnancies.
My position at APO is that of Options Counselor and Caseworker. I help those facing an unplanned pregnancy consider their options as they work out the details of that pregnancy. We explore both parenting and adoption as options for the soon to be born child. I enjoy working with moms and dads as they consider their opportunities and prospects for their child. It is rewarding and emotional work helping those in a crisis situation learn to lean on God and His guidance as they search for difficult answers.
I earned a Counseling MS degree from Texas A&M, Commerce. After graduation, my husband and I spent a summer in Canada doing mission work with the pastors in the province of Saskatchewan. While there, we learned that we were expecting our first child. We felt that it was best for me to be a stay-at-home mom for our children. God blessed us with four children in all; three boys and one girl. As we raised those children, we felt led to home-school. So that both my husband and I could be a part of that schooling, we started a business out of our home. God blessed and provided through that business as we raised our family. They have all graduated from Texas A&M University and the three boys married wonderful young women. We have three grandchildren and know that more will be coming!
Several years ago, after selling the business, I felt God’s calling into ministry using my counseling degree. In God’s unmistakable manner, He introduced me to Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach through a letter and a request to serve on the board of APO. I attended the educational meeting and felt God’s call to APO…just not to serve on the board. I felt that God might have a position available here so I inquired about it. Kim Schams talked with me and told me that she would get back to me after speaking with board members. She stated that they had been considering hiring a caseworker to help out with the increasing caseload.
Well…here I am! I am thrilled to be working with a Godly board of directors and staff at Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach. It is such a blessing to be able to use the training, experiences, and talents, which God has given, to support those in a time of need.
